Within the congress ALIBER a specific session is devoted to the Erasmus+ project FOODLAB and to the tools that it developed to foster entrepreneurship in the food business. The session program sees the intervention of a young French entrepreneur evolving his own business before FOODLAB, in comparison with a new experience in Spain that took profit of the new tools.
The program foresees also a description of FOODLAB activities that the consortium has performed in the last three years, and the witness of students presently living the difficulties of starting a new enterprise from an innovative idea. ALIBER is the reference event in the innovation of the food sector that will take place from April 16th to 19th 2018 within the framework of the Food Fair ALIMENTARIA BARCELONA. FOODLAB project will be presented in the program of the 17th International Conference, together with similar EU projects FooD-STA ad Food4Growth. The session includes also a round table on the role of virtual incubators to promote the innovation and the entrepreneurship for food chain.
The E-learning platform EFTL (European FoodBusiness Transfer Laboratory), accessible through the project website since November 2016, has now more than 300 users, with 12,000+ course views and 220 tests achieved.
The Moodle platform provides learning and training contents/tools and guidelines for teachers and student, with modules that enables the interactions with food companies, technical centres and business angels to foster innovation and enhance students’ entrepreneur spirit.
The FOODLAB e-learning platform aims to help the students with the development of a business using an innovative product based on the entrepreneurial approach.
The different steps and tools in the management of a business development project are specified on the FOODLAB e-learning platform: design thinking methodology, business model CANVAS, and business plan..
Knowing that an entrepreneurial posture must be adopted as soon as the idea emerge, most of these tools should be used before entering into the technical engineering phase.
The FoodLab database has reached 100,000 views since its opening in April 2017. The database is constituted by descriptions and details on innovative stakeholders, new products and available equipment or services, all around Europe.
The FOODLAB website represents a window on the networks of contacts that you might need if you have the entrepreneuship spirit, and you wish to create your own business in food area.
The Entrepreneurship section contains some interesting links and information about different topics, organizations, structures that can support the creation of new innovative business.
Presently more than 80 links and descriptions of qualified references in 7 different EU countries are provided in the Entrepreneurship website section, and the number of useful links keeps increasing.
The FoodLab project will end on March 2018, but the consortium activity will not stop: Foodlab Platform and tools will be kept alive.
It has been agreed that project partners will make a special effort to upgrade and update content, to disseminate results and outcomes for fostering use and assuring exploitability, to reach the appropriate stakeholders that will incorporate Foodlab tools into their daily work activities.
